1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the website at https://www.ibewlocal18.org (the “Website”), submitting any form, signing the Job Referral Books, subscribing to communications, or otherwise interacting with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 18 (“IBEW Local 18,” “the Union,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Website or services.
IBEW Local 18 is an affiliate of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), with headquarters at 4189 W. 2nd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90004.

The IBEW Local 18 Website is provided for the benefit of current members, prospective members, and the general public. The Website provides access to the following services and information:

3. Member Login and Accounts

Certain features of the Website, including member-specific resources, may require you to log in with credentials provided by the Union. By using the member login, you agree to:

  2. Notify the Union promptly if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account
  3. Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
  4. Use your account only for purposes related to your membership and union business

The Union reserves the right to suspend or terminate account access for members who violate these Terms & Conditions or whose membership status changes.

4. Job Referral Books

The Website provides online access to the Job Referral Book sign-up and re-sign process. By using the online Job Referral Book forms, you agree to:

  1. Provide accurate and current information, including your name, contact information, and classification
  2. Comply with all Job Referral rules and procedures as established by Local 18 and applicable collective bargaining agreements
  3. Participate in the quarterly re-sign process (1st through 20th of January, April, July, and October) to remain on the job referral list

The online Job Referral Book system is provided as a convenience. The Union retains the right to manage job referral procedures in accordance with its bylaws, the IBEW Constitution, and applicable collective bargaining agreements. Placement on the Job Referral List does not guarantee employment.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Website only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms & Conditions. You agree not to:

  1. Use the Website in any way that violates applicable local, state, or federal law
  2. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Website, its systems, or member-restricted areas
  3. Use the Website to transmit any harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable material
  4. Interfere with or disrupt the Website or its servers and networks
  5. Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your membership status or affiliation
  6. Use any automated system, including bots or scrapers, to access the Website without the Union’s express written permission
  7. Submit false or misleading information through any Union form or service

6. SMS Terms of Service

The following terms apply to the IBEW Local 18 SMS/MMS text messaging program. By opting in to our text messaging service, you agree to these SMS Terms of Service.

6.1 Program Description and Signup Confirmation

When you opt in to the service, we will send you a message to confirm your signup. By opting into this service, you can expect to receive union meeting notices, event notifications, job referral updates, emergency alerts, legislative action alerts, and organizational news from IBEW Local 18. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Text HELP for help. Text STOP to cancel.

6.2 Cancellation / Opt-Out

You can cancel this service at any time by texting STOP. After you send STOP, we will reply to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive messages unless you opt in again.

6.4 Carrier Liability

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6.5 Message Frequency and Rates

Message frequency varies based on union activities, meetings, job referral activity, and events. Message and data rates may apply based on your wireless carrier and plan. Please contact your wireless provider for details.

6.6 Consent

By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to our SMS program, you provide your express consent to receive recurring text messages from IBEW Local 18. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of membership or any benefit provided by IBEW Local 18.

6.7 Supported Carriers

Our SMS program is designed to work with major U.S. carriers including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and others. Service availability may vary depending on your carrier, plan, and device.

6.8 Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy at https://www.ibewlocal18.org/privacy-policy for complete details on how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. Key commitments regarding our SMS program:

  1. Personally Identifiable Information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
  2. We do not share consumer opt-in consent with any third parties.
  3. Mobile data consent will not be shared with any third parties through this SMS channel.

7. Email Communications

8. Membership and Union Governance

Membership in IBEW Local 18 is governed by the IBEW Constitution, Local 18 bylaws, and applicable collective bargaining agreements. These Terms & Conditions apply to your use of the Website and digital communications; they do not supersede or replace any rights, obligations, or procedures established under the IBEW Constitution, Local 18 bylaws, or any collective bargaining agreement.
Union officers are elected every three years in a secret ballot mail referendum. Union rules (bylaws) are voted upon by the members. Working conditions are determined through collective bargaining agreements voted on separately by members employed at each public agency.

9. Intellectual Property

Content on this Website, including text, graphics, logos, images, videos, and other material, is the property of IBEW Local 18, the IBEW, or their respective content providers and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. The IBEW name, seal, and Local 18 logo may not be used in any manner that implies endorsement without prior written authorization from IBEW Local 18.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any content on this Website without our prior written consent, except for personal, non-commercial use directly related to union membership activities.

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms & Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Los Angeles County, California. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or waives any rights available to the Union or its members under the IBEW Constitution, applicable collective bargaining agreements, or federal labor law.

15. Severability

If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

16. Changes to These Terms & Conditions

IBEW Local 18 reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Website or services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms & Conditions.
