Sherry (Shu-Yu) Hu, Sr. Programmer Analyst, member Sherry (Shu-Yu) Hu, Sr. Programmer Analyst, member since July 2021. I am a proud IBEW member because Unions help reduce wage gaps for women workers and workers of color. IBEW is a strong union that has been fighting to ensure fair wages, benefits, and better working conditions. I am grateful and proud IBEW member. The best part of my job is that I can work in a professional workplace and focus on the field I am passionate about. My advice to women being a minority in any group has never been easy. Still, by choosing the right organization with strong support so you can focus on your career growth, you will be on the right path of pursuing your passion that aligns with your values, which will lead to greater success.

Jillian Villanueva, Electrical Engineering Associa Jillian Villanueva, Electrical Engineering Associate, IBEW 18 member since July 2017. I am proud to be IBEW Local 18 because the union ensures safe working conditions, fair wages, and excellent benefits. The best part of my job is being part of a team to help change and build Los Angeles. It is rewarding to see jobs you’ve designed being energized. My advice to future women engineers is not to give up. It’s important to match your competence with your confidence. Trust your instincts and believe in yourself. Do not be discouraged by existing stereotypes. Women belong in engineering; you can do it!

#ibewlocal18 strong 💪🏼 Repost from @ladwp1•A week ago, a record wind and rain storm downed trees, power poles, and power lines, resulting in widespread power outages across our service area. Our amazing, dedicated crews worked 16-hour shifts around the clock in extreme conditions to remove downed trees, de-energize downed power lines, climb poles, and work in tight underground vaults to restore power as quickly and safely as possible to our customers. With the storm behind us, we would like to say another BIG THANK YOU to our electric crews for what they do, day-in, day-out, rain or shine! We also want to thank our customers for their patience and understanding under challenging conditions. 🙏
