Retain Medical Control!

If you are injured on the job, medical control is critical. If you do not have a doctor on record, you may be sent to a Department doctor, and you may not be confident that you will get the best care or that the treating physician, who is the gatekeeper of any possible Workman’s Comp claim, will represent your best interest. You can and should designate a doctor on record. This could be your primary care physician, or Local 18 can recommend a doctor. If you do not have a doctor on file and you are injured on the job, the employer will have control of your treatment and options for 30 days. Contact Local 18 to find out how to designate your doctor on record. Don’t wait until you are injured; by then it will be too late.
