Safety Is Always Priority #1 on the Job! By Shawn McCloud and Barry Poole Safety Rules Handbook The Department is getting ready to update and revise the SafetyRules Handbook. At our November Worker-Safety Joint Labor-Management Committee meeting, management indicated that it wants to hear from our membership on what you would like to see in the handbook. What would you like to see in it? What would help you better perform your duties? Let your voice be heard! Send your suggestions or comments on how to improve the Safety RulesHandbook to Bradley Walker via email Bradley.Walker@ladwp.com, fax, 213/367-8633, or phone at 213/367-8629. Safety Bulletin Boards Working through the Worker Safety Joint Labor-Management Committee, we have been successful in getting enclosed bulletin boards that will be dedicated solely to safety-related items. We currently are looking for volunteers to maintain the boards. The approved safety items will be sent to you; all you have to do is the post the information. The bulletin boards are located at various district offices. If you are interested, please call Shawn McCloud at 213/387-8274, ext.111. Please leave a message that includes your name, phone number, work location, e-mail address, work address and fax number. Thanks in advance for volunteering! Evacuation Procedures In case of an emergency, when you need to evacuate your work area, do you know where to go? If not, ask your supervisor and hold him or her accountable. When you ask for this information, you have the right to expect a timely response. Call your Business Representative if you are unsuccessful in getting the information you need. Remember, think safety all of the time!
