Letter of Agreement (re: Special Assignments)

“Labor and Management are committed to partnering in a “working-together” atmosphere. With this in mind, and to take full advantage of our workforce skills, knowledge and experience, the Parties agree to implement a “Special Assignment” agreement for the following purpose:

“Selection of employees for “Special Assignment” positions, such as “Trainer,” “Safety Representative,” “Planner/Scheduler,” “Light Duty,” or any other “Special Assignment,” shall be made jointly through a Labor/Management process.

“The Joint Labor/Management process will include discussion regarding the “Special Assignment” to determine the conditions of the “Special Assignment” which will be consistent with the appropriate MOU, including length of time (duration), overtime eligibility, and any other related issue.

“Light Duty assignments shall be determined only after DWP Medical has released the employee with appropriate instructions as to work limitations, etc., and shall not conflict with any established Workers’ Compensation laws or provisions.

“The make-up of the “Special Assignments” JLMC will be mutually agreed to on an “as needed” basis.

“Issues that can not be resolved through the JLMC process will be taken to the JLM Resolution Board.”
