New Business Rep. Martin Marrufo
Joins Local 18 Service Team

IBEW Local 18 is pleased to welcome Martin Marrufo as a Business Representative, serving Units 4 (General Construction) and 19B (Shops).

For 22 years, Brother Marrufo has been active in the union movement. He was a member of Local 2 of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades. Following his work with that union, he joined Local 246 of the Utility Workers Union of America and served as a Shop Steward at Southern California Edison. Brother Marrufo became a casualty of the ill-advised statewide energy deregulation plan in the mid-1990s, and subsequently was let go by the giant utility.

In 1996, he was hired at Los Angeles City Recreation & Parks, as a Painter. After five years, Brother Marrufo was hired at ISS/General Construction, at the Department of Water & Power. He was involved immediately in Local 18 activities, and became a Shop Steward. In December, 2002, Brother Marrufo was transferred to Electrical Station Maintenance, as a Painter, and continued to serve as a Shop Steward.

With more than 20 years of painting and union work in his background, we know that new Rep. Martin Marrufo will ably serve both our Union and the members of his units. Welcome aboard!
